You cited some of the practical considerations that have no doubt influenced India’s current policy. But your understanding of the war is clearly skewed if you honestly think that neither the U.S. nor NATO has assisted Ukraine … where do you think Ukraine got the fire power to hold off the numerically superior Russian forces for so long? The Western alliance is pouring munitions into the Ukraine as fast as it can.

A final thought: India is a sovereign nation and can obviously pursue any foreign policy that it wants. But governments that opt for policies (either foreign or domestic) based on short-term political advantage, rather than a long-term moral vision of the world community that they want to live in, may one day find that they have few friends when they need them the most.
