“Well, African Americans would accuse them of colourism … its all about insecurity for them.” Really? Which African Americans? I’ve never heard my S.O. utter the word. As radical as it sounds, I am willing to wager that the vast majority of Black Americans couldn’t care less about this little tempest in a tea pot.

So why paint with the broad brush? Why imply that the entire community is concerned about this trivial issue when they are, in fact, struggling to cope with a COVID death rate that is three times that of both Whites and Asian Americans? By adding a single word you could have avoided stereotyping and made your assertion a true statement: “SOME African Americans would accuse them of …”

Or, perhaps, I am missing the point and you wanted to give offense?
