And let’s face it, being outnumbered by an angry mob of people who are shouting and swearing at you because of the uniform that you are wearing is frightening … officers never previously placed in that position are under considerable stress and in some ways primed to overreact. They may hold themselves back because they know that there are a dozen ways that it can all very quickly go wrong.
