Thanks for the comment; good to know. Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al, were committed to profiting from the Iraqi adventure, but I think they had also persuaded themselves that by bestowing the “gift” of western democracy on the Iraqi people, it would all wash out in the end. Powell may have shared that delusion.
