My partner is a refugee from Mississippi, and he would emphatically agree with every word that you have written. My brother is a transplant and has been putting roots down in Mississippi for a couple of decades. He would scornfully dismiss every observation that you have made. There are none as blind as those who choose not to see—and sadly, America is full of that particular species.
