I have to agree with the majority of other responders. South America has rarely been able to come together and act in a concerted manner, and I see little evidence that that will change. And Russia’s surprising display of military incompetence in the botched Ukraine war is not going to entice either Brazil or China to rush into a new alliance with Putin. If anything, Russia has probably bought some more time for Taiwan—Xi is not a fool and has to recognize that in the near future, a conflict between China and the western powers (the U.S., Australia and the E.U.) would be a lost cause—even if he had an alliance with Russia.
