I have never seen systemic racism explained better. As a white liberal who once followed Bill Maher, all I can do is shake my head in despair. Maher is a has-been who has repeatedly made ignorant statements in an apparent attempt to become relevant again. But are the majority of white voters perceptive enough to see the glaring holes in his arguments? Hardly. On the left we are intellectually lazy, happy to let talking heads like Maher do our thinking for us. On the right, we are intellectually dishonest because, after all, there are always “alternative facts”—and the ones we make up will be true enough if we prevail. God help America ‘cuz we apparently don’t have the ability to help ourselves!
