I donʻt care whether the idea came from an ice king or an ice queen—I enjoy some cocktails with ice (I canʻt imagine sipping a gimlet at room temperature) and others without it (ice would diminish the flavor of a good tequila or mezcal). Soft drinks and water are enhanced by that chill which hits the tongue and the gūms when you begin to sip an ice cold beverage. So no, thanks, I am not being duped by a long dead ice salesman. Ice has simply expanded our options when it comes to drinks … the Europeans can stick with their traditions, but I will continue to have it on the rocks!
